Way back in April, I made a card for Judy's birthday here.
I remembered how much I liked the layout, and I wanted to show the Big
Birthday Candles stamp set at my upcoming workshops this month, since
it's retiring. That card was made with the then current In Colors, so
I decided to change it up a bit and use this season's current In
Colors. Here's what I came up with. I'm going to miss this set--it's really fun and quick to use.
UPDATE DEC. 19 -- Just found out that this stamp set is NOT retiring! Stampin' Up! updated their retiring list and this is NOT on it! Yay!
Our Heartfelt Stampers Team Time is Thursday evening, and I really enjoy being a part of the card swap. Here's my creation. I'm absolutely obsessed with using Flight of the Butterflies and Inspired by Nature stamp sets together! We've needed a grass stamp for so long!
I started out die cutting a piece of Whisper White card stock using the Big Shot and the Top Note Bigz Die. I stamped the grass from Inspired by Nature in Old Olive ink, then stamped each of the three butterflies in Ruby Red, Cameo Coral and More Mustard, cut them out and adhered them with a dimensional. The "thanks so much" saying comes from Pocket Silhouettes, which is one of the stamp sets that is 15% off now through September 30th. I backed that with some Patterns Designer Paper in Old Olive, then a layer of Whisper White, then the card base which is Ruby Red. Hope my team mates like it!
I've had some wonderful hostesses this past month and wanted them to know how much I appreciate their efforts so I made several copies of this card. After seeing all the terrific samples at Convention made with this stamp set, I decided I had to have Flower Fancy. It's a great two-step stamping set! I paired it with the new Thank You Kindly set, along with designer paper from Sweet Always, Chocolate Chip and Kiwi Kiss card stock, a piece of Kiwi Kiss ribbon and some silver Bead Duos for the center of the flower.
So I'm on a rolll getting ready for Quinn's birthday. Here's her card to match her banner. I used Regal Rose as the base of the card, then added Lovely Lilac designer paper, a strip from the Sweet Always designer paper pack and another from Tangerine Tango. The "3" is chipboard covered with paper from the Sweet Always pack. The cute little hippo is from Pun Fun. I stamped her (must be female; she's pink!) in Staz-On on Whisper White and colored in with an Aqua Painter and Rose Red and Tangerine Tango ink pads. The greeting is a rub-on, and I made the lacy border with the new scallop edge punch, then punched out the scallops with the 1/8" circle handheld punch.
Can't believe a year has gone by so quickly! My daughter Aly and her husband Brad were married a year ago today! I made this card for their very first anniversary today.

UPDATE: Someone asked how I made the scallops around the heart. Here's how! I punched out 4 scallops using the Scallop punch, then cut in and around the scallop like this:
I then apply adhesive to the back edge all the way around the heart. You can use SNAIL adhesive, but I prefer to use Dotto because it's repositionable and I often need to pull it up and straighten it as I work. Believe it or not, you can bend and fit that scallop around any shape.
I started at the tip of the heart, then worked my way around to the top "V", cut the excess off and then started a second scalloped piece at the bottom, working back up to the top to meet the first piece.
Hope you enjoy putting a scalloped edge around your image!
One of my team mates, Lena Thompson, is putting together a raffle basket for a benefit for a young boy with autism. She asked if I'd like to donate something I've made to the cause, and I came up with a set of 7 gift bows with coordinating tags. Thought I'd show them to you before I take them over to her. Not such a great picture, but they look kind of fun all together. The gift cards are 3"x3", and here is the link for making the bows. With so many gorgeous designer papers, the possibilities are endless!
I know quite a few people having birthdays this month, and I made this card for a very special team member, Judy Christensen. The card base measures 5" x 5" and is Soft Sky card stock, stamped with the same color ink using Big Birthday Candles stamp set. I cut two circles from the Coluzzle--one in Whisper White and one in Groovy Guava. The candles are stamped on Whisper White using Purely Pomegranate, So Saffron, Soft Sky and Basic Gray. "Make a Wish" is also stamped in Basic Gray and I added some Purely Pomegranate Double-Stitched Ribbon. Candle flames and saying are popped up with dimensionals.
Here's card no. 2 with the same sketch. It looks so different, doesn't it? This is for my nephew Zack for his birthday on April 3rd.
I started out again with a piece of 12"x12" Soft Sky card stock, cut it into quarters and stamped it with the Polka Dot background stamp in Soft Sky Classic ink. I used a piece of designer paper from East Coast Prep, backed with Pumpkin Pie card stock. I added several ribbons to the side--one from Jersey Ribbon Originals, a piece of Double-Stitched Ribbon in Wild Wasabi and a piece of Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in Pumpkin Pie. The "Birthday Wishes" is part of For a Friend Hostess Level 1 stamp set, stamped in Wild Wasabi Classic ink and colored in with Soft Sky and Pumpkin Pie.
I just loved the featured template in this month's Stampin' Success! For those of you thinking about becoming a demonstrator, this is such a perk! It's a monthly publication from Stampin' Up! that gives lots of ideas on all sorts of stamping topics. This issue showed several cards using another layout idea that included all the circles. After I had stamped polka dots on the background and used a polka dot designer paper, I thought this would be fun to use to tie all the circles together. Two of the circles are stamped from Little Pieces and punched out. One of the circles is punched from Pumpkin Pie Print Designer Series Paper (yet more polka dots!) and the rest are from regular card stock. Hope Zack will like it!
